The World Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union in which figure skaters compete for the title of World Champion.
The 1982 championships took place on March 9-14, 1982 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The ISU Representative was Olaf Poulsen and the ISU Technical Delegate Josef Dědič.
It was the first worlds with different judging panels for Compulsory figures, short programs and compulsory dance on one side and for the free programs on the other.
